Born in Montreal Canada, this talented singer/songwriter
has been singing since age five. At age six, she began piano
lessons and continued for eleven years before turning her attention
towards becoming a vocalist. Music and singing have always come
naturally to her; talents that she has been blessed with, along
with an incredibly accurate ear. Her love for rich harmonies
and the blending of voices inspired her to join a Gospel choir
                as a teenager.
As a lead vocalist (Soprano) of the Umoja Gospel choir, Jewelle’s
interpretation of songs by Karen Clarke-Sheard left audiences
awestruck. How did such a small frame house such a powerful voice!
                Wow, can she soar!

While continuing her passion for Gospel music, during the
last several years Jewelle has performed at a variety of Montreal
venues. In addition, she has performed extensively at the Club
Tremblant resort and internationally in Guadeloupe and Morocco.
A riveting and versatile performer, Jewelle recently opened
for Matt Dusk at a gala function, and was described by one
audience member as “the next IT girl.” . She was
also a featured artist on the television program, Belle et
Bum, with Normand Brathwaite, March 2008. Her ability to WOW
her fans comes from her undeniable stage presence and gifted
vocal range. Currently working on her first CD, when asked
what style her music is, she answers, “It’s ‘feel
good’ music.” A unique mélange of R&B,
Swing, Pop and Rock with profound and honest lyrics. Listen
for yourself and see why people are talking about Jewelle McKenzie.
